We hope you and your child love your first visit to our office.  Our office, along with the The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD), The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and the American Dental Association (ADA) recommend establishing a "Dental Home" for your child by one year of age. Children who have a dental home are more likely to receive appropriate preventive and routine oral health care.

In preparing your child for their first visit to our office, we ask that you avoid using words that may have unpleasant connotations such as "needle", "hurt", or "drill".  We have found that in doing so, some parents inadvertently transfer their own dental anxieties on to their children.  We will make every effort to make your child’s visit as pleasant as possible and appreciate your cooperation in setting the stage for a lifetime of great dental health.

In order to streamline your experience, we ask that when possible, you complete your child’s insurance forms and health/dental history forms prior to your arrival via our online portal.  However, we do have tablets available for you to use should you choose to complete the forms at our office.

Additionally, we ask that whenever possible, the parent or legal guardian bring the child to their first visit.  If you are unable to bring your child, please alert us that someone else will be bringing them to the appointment so we can ensure that the necessary consent and documentation is completed prior to the appointment.

Please remember to:

  • Bring your dental insurance card. You may also find it helpful to review the details and covered benefits of your policy.
  • Arrive about 15 minutes early if you have not completed the required new patient forms for your child via our online portal, easily accessible via an emailed link. If you did not receive an email from us or if your access to the portal has expired and you would like to complete your new patient information ahead of time on your own device, please give us a call at (256) 766-0270.  We would be happy to email it to you.
